VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE: PAY), today, reveals its next generation payment solutions and invites retailers to reimagine interaction, mobility, security and globalization.
New solutions introduced today expand VeriFone's market-leading point-of-sale business with new multimedia, mobile technology, payment paradigms and cloud-based services that simplify and enhance the retail experience.
"Retailers hunger for new, more meaningful and profitable ways to engage with customers in-store and online. At the same time, consumers crave entertaining experiences powered by mobile devices and expect those types of intriguing and interactive experiences where they shop," said Jennifer Miles, VeriFone executive vice president, North America. "What we're unveiling meets both retailer needs and consumer desires - creating new and exciting opportunities for everyone, everywhere."
Traditional Point of Sale
Debuting today is VeriFone's MX 900 series, the next generation of VeriFone's best-selling MX family, which blankets 70 percent of the top 200 retailers' countertops in the US.
The MX 900 line is the most sophisticated payment-enabled media solution that securely delivers powerful multimedia, content and payments to transform the traditional point-of-sale into a dynamic and intelligent point of engagement between retailers and consumers. Retailers can push relevant content to consumers on the fly, accept mobile wallets, offer digital couponing and loyalty programs, and connect with location-based social media.
Appealing to consumers' affinity for intuitive and exciting electronic devices, it packs the largest and brightest display in the industry into a slim, sleek design. The first two solutions in this series, the MX 915 and MX 925, will be available in North America mid-year, followed by phased rollouts to other geographies.
Mobile Point of Sale and Retailing
The latest in VeriFone's GlobalBay Mobile POS and Retailing solutions are in action at forward-looking retailers across the US where innovation is just as important as fashion trends. These ricrich, cutting-edge applications allow retailers to service consumers wherever they are with engaging content on tablets and smart mobile devices such as the iPod touch, and tie into loyalty systems, link in-store experiences to e-commerce systems, and take payment from anywhere in-store.
Brighton Collectibles, C. Wonder Stores, GUESS and Eastern Mountain Sports recently revealed how they're transforming tablets and smartphones into roaming shopper-friendly systems that can incorporate POS, shopping assistant, online catalogue and on-the-spot inventory management.
VeriFone expanded its mobile offerings today with the introduction of PAYware Mobile Enterprise for Tablet, a comprehensive secure payment acceptance solution compatible with VeriFone's GlobalBay Mobile POS and Retailing solutions. Initially available for Apple iPad 2, PAYware Mobile Enterprise for Tablet provides the same award-winning card acceptance technology used with the iPod Touch and supports end-to-end security with VeriShield Total Protect card data encryption technology. The solution accepts traditional cards, PIN, EMV smartcards and NFC smartphone transactions. The built-in 2D barcode scanner makes inventory tasks and couponing easy.
VeriFone is putting Google Wallet at thousands of checkout lanes for the majority of retailers accepting this payment method, including American Eagle Outfitters, Bloomingdales, Champs, Foot Locker, GUESS, Macy's, Radio Shack, The Container Store and Toys 'R' Us.
In addition to Google Wallet, NRF attendees will have the opportunity to experience the Isis Mobile Commerce Application at VeriFone's booth. Isis is the joint venture between AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless.
Expect to see VeriFone expanding the world of digital payments and mobile wallets including PayPal PIN and PayPal NFC over the months and years to come.
Empower Global Solutions
VeriFone HQ, also introduced today, is an advanced estate management solution that spans multiple VeriFone platforms and integrates with other enterprise software systems. From a web-based control center, VeriFone HQ enables retailers to easily keep any POS system consumer ready by rapidly deploying new payment paradigms such as smart card and mobile wallet applications, social commerce applications and compelling digital content, including audio and video to customers. VeriFone HQ will be available this year as a VeriFone cloud-based solution.
The new introductions today uphold VeriFone's commitment to help retailers meet the security challenges of a global and mobile economy with ironclad end-to-end encryption, tokenization, the world's broadest portfolio of PCI PTS devices, and vast global EMV solutions and experience.
Separately, Customers are no longer at the mercy of traditional cash register lines in the new C. Wonder brand of women's retail stores introduced last fall. Instead, C. Wonder sales associates are able to assist shoppers with checkout anywhere in the store using an iPod Touch. This exceptional retail deployment of mobile-only checkout is the result of a customized mobile point of sale (mPOS) solution from VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE: PAY) that decreases wait lines and eliminates cumbersome POS software and costly cash registers. C. Wonder's storewide mPOS execution expedites payment transactions and advances shopping to a new level of personal service.
VeriFone announced today that its VeriFone GlobalBay Mobile POS and PAYware Mobile Enterprise solutions are being operated in C. Wonder's stores as part of the retailer's core focus: customer service at the most individual level.
Founded by investor and entrepreneur J. Christopher Burch, C. Wonder opened its flagship Manhattan store in October 2011, followed by three additional stores in New York and New Jersey with plans to expand in another 15 locations by the end of 2012. VeriFone's GlobalBay solution is designed for seamless activation of mPOS at every new store.
"C. Wonder is applying technology solutions to redefine 21st Century retail, including the unexpected benefit of not waiting in a long line at a traditional cash register," said Mattias Douhan, vice president of IT for C. Wonder. "Mobile point of sale frees up associates to assist shoppers at any place in the store where they are inspired to make a purchase."
The mobile retail solution is also cost-effective because stores of this size typically rely on three to four fixed registers; but C. Wonder has deployed 15-20 Apple iPod Touch devices per store, each equipped with VeriFone's PAYware Mobile Enterprise, increasing the points of payment and the volume of payment transactions. This represents a savings on hardware and expands selling space that would otherwise be occupied by registers.
An associate uses an Apple iPod Touch running the VeriFone GlobalBay app and equipped with VeriFone's PCI-approved PAYware Mobile Enterprise, which accepts card swipes, instantly encrypts the data and also enables quick and efficient bar code scanning.
By hosting an entirely mobile POS sales floor, C. Wonder avoided the traditional POS software that retailers deploy and instead integrated directly to a custom ERP system modified from the Jeeves Universal flexible standard ERP solution. This approach provides real-time information for management through C. Wonder's centrally hosted ERP system as associates assist customers anywhere in the store.
"C. Wonder is on the cutting edge of retail transformation and VeriFone's GlobalBay mobile retail applications, security software and hardware are helping to make shopping a more enjoyable, more fulfilling experience," said Jennifer Miles, VeriFone executive vice president, North America.
