New features for customers

  • View all accounts in one place including credit cards
  • Paperless statements allowing mailed statements to be turned off and all their statements stored online for easy access
  • Email alerts to let customers know when a payment has been made into their account or they are reaching a certain level
  • Secure messaging service so customers can contact Santander securely through the Online Bank with any questions about service
  • Quick transfer between accounts from the customers' homepage
  • Change of address online.

Online security

When customers go to their online banking page they will see a new log on screen showing the extra levels of security which have been introduced, including a best in class 'image and phrase' verification page which provides customers with the reassurance they are logging on to a genuine Santander online banking website.

Customers will also be able to download free Rapport security software to complement their anti virus software and Santander's existing security measures.

Online Banking Guarantee

Santander has also updated its Online Banking Guarantee which confirms that in the unlikely event funds are taken from a customer's account without permission, Santander will pay back any loss incurred from fraud, up to the value of the amount fraudulently taken.*

Account servicing

In addition, customers will be able to view two years' transaction history, build a seven-year library of their statements in digital form and transfer money between their Santander accounts with a quick transfer tool.

Matthew Timms, eCommerce director at Santander, said: "We carried out a significant amount of research among our customers to understand what services they would like when they use online banking and this helped guide the improvements we've made. Santandeer is working hard to improve customer service across the board and our new online banking service is a further enhancement to our service."

To coincide with the launch of the new online banking service Santander has also recently extended its £100 cashback offer for new customers who switch to its Preferred, Reward or Premium current accounts, all of which pay a market leading in-credit interest rate of 5 per cent AER (fixed) for 12 months.
