GlobalPlatform, the organization which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, has completed maintenance work on its Card Specification, Configurations and supporting guidelines.
The revised documents, which are available to download from globalplatform.com, will be of interest to all parties that have previously implemented GlobalPlatform's card technology or plan to in the future.
Since it first published the Card Specification in the late 1990s, GlobalPlatform has maintained its commitment to advancing its secure and interoperable application management technology to meet industry needs and support the market's evolution. Regular work is undertaken by GlobalPlatform's Technical Committees to advance all documentation, liaise with other industry bodies to align standards and continually reach out to industry participants to identify future functional requirements while maintaining compatibility with prior releases, in order to ease technology migration.
As part of this review, GlobalPlatform has launched v1.0.1 of its UICC Configuration - the implementation guide for deploying GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.2 within the mobile services sector and managing the delivery of over-the-air services. GlobalPlatform has also updated the Mapping Guideline Configuration, which guide card implementations based on Card Specification v2.1.1 to a GlobalPlatform card compliant to v2.2. These latest documents are available free to GlobalPlatform members and for purchase by non-members. Non-members that previously purchased earlier versions may obtain updated documents at a discounted price.
Updates have also been made to the Java Card and MULTOS API for GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.1.1, as well as GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.2 Amendment A 1.0.1. These documents can be downloaded free from the GlobalPlatform website by any interested party.
