Dow Jones Newswires, the world's leading independent provider of real-time business and financial news, has appointed financial-information vendor McGregor BFA as a sales agent for South Africa as part of its plan to expand its presence in the country's investment and business communities.
Johannesburg-based McGregor, part of multi-national Naspers media group's MWEB Business Division, will offer a broad range of news services from Dow Jones Newswires across all asset classes. Delivery will be through Newswires' Web-based service, dowjones.com, or as part of the content portfolio McGregor provides to the off-trading floor operations of banks and investment institutions, corporate customers, and financial magazines and daily newspapers. McGregor also will handle subscriptions to the Dow Jones News Web site.
"Major companies such as Anglo-American and SAB Miller have placed South Africa's business community firmly in the international arena and, as a result, their investors need a greater range of business-information resources," said Mike Bergmeijer, vice president, international sales and marketing, Dow Jones Newswires. "We believe our content can provide a valuable investment tool, and we are delighted to partner with McGregor BFA."
"The agreement with Dow Jones Newswires adds value to existing and potential McGregor BFA customers by providing access to real-time international market news," said George Palmer, general manager, McGregor BFA, the content service provider division of MWEB Business.
