Instinet Incorporated, a global leader in electronic trading and agency-only brokerage services, today announced that US listed futures and options trading functionality is now available natively within Newport 3, the firm's flagship execution management system (EMS).

With the introduction of this functionality, Instinet clients now have access to a true multi-asset, broker-neutral EMS in addition to the firm's high-touch U.S. derivatives trading offering.

"With changes in derivatives markets roughly echoing the equity markets' recent evolution, the ability to navigate multiple asset classes through a single front end is increasingly important to the institutional trading community," said Jon Zanoff, Global Head of EMS Strategy at Instinet.

Zanoff continued: "Since its inception, we've focused on optimizing the performance, analytics, customization and collaboration capabilities of the Newport 3 platform. These efforts have produced a trading system which clearly ranks among the best in its class. With the addition of native multi-asset functionality to Newport 3, we feel that the platform becomes an extremely compelling solution to an even broader range of buy- or sell-side trading desks."

The introduction of options and futures trading capabilities to Newport 3 follows Instinet's recent launch of the Options CBX dark pool and the introduction of U.S. listed-options trading functionality within both Instinet's Execution ExpertsTM algorithmic trading suite and the company's smart order routing technology. The options trading functionality leverages technology obtained in Instinet's 2009 acquisition of TORC Financial, while the futures trading functionality was developed by Instinet's internal technology development organization.

Newport 3 is a premier multi-asset, broker-neutral execution management system. It serves as the primary gateway to Instinet's entire product portfolio and enables users to understand risk, empower trading teams, customize trading strategies, execute across global destinations, monitor progress and analyze performance. In July, Instinet was named "Best Execution Management System Provider" by the readers of Waters magazine in the Waters Rankings 2010 for Newport 3, and last year the platform was named "Best Execution Management System" by the readers of World Finance magazine.
