Morningstar (NASDAQ: MORN), a leading provider of independent investment research, has been appointed by Fidelity International to supply the investment data for its new iPhone app that provides UK investors with a mobile way to review and chart investment fund performance.

Morningstar supports the Fidelity International iPhone app through an API (Application Programming Interface), which enables investors to retrieve investment fund data from Morningstar's investment database directly on their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Via the app, live fund performance returns for the 1,100+ funds available on the Fidelity FundsNetworkTM platform are available to review, on demand, and in chart form. Available information also includes the Morningstar Rating for funds, enabling investors to compare performance returns with other funds within its peer group, where a fund has a minimum threeyear history.

"Our work supporting the Fidelity International iPhone app demonstrates a growing interest among asset managers and platforms for data services that can be delivered to a consumer base increasingly comfortable with third-generation tools," said Connor Sloman, chief operating officer for Morningstar UK. "The resulting Fidelity International app is intuitive to use and a great example of how investors can access fund data in a quick and uncomplicated way."

Rob Fisher, head of UK personal investments at Fidelity International, said, "By working with Morningstar, our new iPhone app has been able to leverage a UK dataset that is unrivalled in the marketplace. Morningstar provided a flexible way for us to implement this fund data into the app, which is so essential for new technology platforms such as the iPhone. We are delighted by the response from investors so far."
