Savvis (NASDAQ:SVVS), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, today announced it will provide strategic elements of the hosting infrastructure for Thomson Reuters Elektron.
Elektron is a global, ultra-high speed real-time data network and hosting environment that enables financial firms to access and share information faster and more cost effectively. It allows hedge funds, asset managers, banks, brokerages, exchanges and other participants to connect to the world's largest financial community and securely reach trading partners over the Elektron network.
Thomson Reuters Elektron will provide connectivity, low latency content and peer- to-peer messaging across the rich ecosystem of market participants including buy-side, sell-side and the liquidity venues, already resident in Savvis' data centers and across the extended Thomson Reuters global client community.
As part of the relationship Savvis will provide data centers in key global financial markets connected to the Elektron Network. The collaboration between Savvis and Thomson Reuters has already resulted in the build-out of this infrastructure in hosting facilities in New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo, Singapore, Frankfurt and Hong Kong.
"Our decision to work with Savvis was based on the global data center footprint, network connectivity and premier hosting services," said Jon Robson, President, Enterprise, Thomson Reuters. "We're thrilled to have Savvis on board and providing some of the important hosting components for our ground-breaking Elektron network, which will deliver quantum leap in terms of performance, global connectivity, and information exchange across the world's financial markets."
"The combination of Savvis' hosting services with Thomson Reuters Elektron is providing compelling solution for the global financial community," said Bill Fathers, Savvis senior vice president, global head of sales and marketing. "We are pleased to be working with Thomson Reuters as they roll out this revolutionary network, which addresses key requirements for the financial markets."
