In addition to retail branches, FirstMerit is now using GMT Planet to bring workforce management to contact centres and to diverse back office areas, including item processing, lockbox operations, and its transportation department.

"GMT Planet provides an integrated staffing model and scheduling process that will span our entire organisation. Our research uncovered GMT as the only software provider with a proven solution to bring workforce management to all areas of the bank," said Larry Shoff, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of FirstMerit Corporation. "In addition to features and functions, our team was particularly impressed with GMT's focus on service and on customer-based improvements, two critical components for the type of long- term vendor relationships we desire."

GMT Planet provides a dynamic staffing model that automatically adjusts to trends and changes, and schedules personnel accordingly. It pinpoints and reduces both current and projected overstaffing and understaffing within a financial institution's branch network, call centers, and back office, treating them as dynamic, changing environments. GMT Planet empowers the end-user to utilise a "management-by-exception" methodology, quickly focusing efforts on those branches and departments that present the greatest overall opportunity for improvement. It provides short and long term FTE requirements as well as budgeting, leading to hiring plans whose result is having the right employees in the right place at the right time.

Roger Avats, GMT's CEO, commented that FirstMerit's selection is further validation that the marketplace desires a workforce management tool that can successfully scale the entire organisation. "FirstMerit's selection continues to demonstrate its leadership in the financial services industry. FirstMerit's actions illustrate a clear and continuous effort on improving the overall customer experience, while searching for tactical workforce opportunities that increase profitability and improve efficiency. We are proud to be a part of that effort."
