A benefit of membership of the LSE is that all of Liquidnet Europe's UK equity trades will now be reported and included in the LSE's consolidated volume.

"The London Stock Exchange is one of the premier exchanges in Europe and we are pleased to be joining such a prestigious organisation. Membership of the LSE is something that Liquidnet and our members hold in high regard. It is indicative of Liquidnet's growing maturity and standing in the financial community," said John Barker, managing director of Liquidnet Europe.

Liquidnet Europe has set the pace for a strong 2005 by breaking the record for principal traded in January with more than 534 million pounds Sterling executed. On 13 January, Liquidnet Europe traded a record number of shares: 27,134,766, with a record single execution of 7,110,459 shares.
