mBlox, the world's largest mobile transaction network, today announced the completion of the first phase of its multi-million dollar investment in delivering hosted mobile transaction services, including payment and billing, for its clients worldwide.

Working with Savvis, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, mBlox will deliver its mobile transaction services and related IT infrastructure from Savvis' data centre in Weehawken, New Jersey.

"mBlox is well known for its mobile transaction network, and we are pleased to supply the cloud computing infrastructure it needs to deliver services around the globe," said Chris Richter, vice president of security services for Savvis. "Our international footprint, low latency and security services provide mBlox with the platform it needs, and our scalability allows for future business expansion."

Savvis' data centre and the Savvis Symphony cloud infrastructure are designed to provide increased security, resilience and performance for mBlox's expansion, while supporting the integrity demands of mBlox's global client base.

"The reliability, footprint and industry reputation of Savvis' virtualised and cloud infrastructure services and client support provide mBlox with a solid foundation to deploy additional mobile transaction and payment capabilities to our customers," said Andrew Dark, chief executive officer of mBlox. "In extension of this investment, mBlox intends to become certified as PCI DSS compliant to support our planned expansion of mobile payments and mCommerce, providing the integrity and reliability that our marquee clients and their consumers demand."

Prior to this milestone, mBlox completed its own network platform upgrade during 2009 to employ the latest generation of infrastructure technologies, which enabled it to achieve over 3.5 billion application-to-person transactions in 2009, over 1 billion mobile transactions more than in 2008, representing a growth of 46 percent year-on-year. mBlox plans to further upgrade its IT infrastructure at Savvis' data centres in Silicon Valley, London and Singapore as part of its investment strategy to expand in the global financial services industry.<

Savvis' U.S. data centres supporting mBlox have been successfully audited against Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II requirements. SAS 70 reports meet the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) for effective internal controls by public companies.
