The agreement was signed by SSIC General Manager Zheng Song and HKEx-IS Director Bryan Chan. Other senior officials from both parties also attended the signing ceremony.

The objective of the collaboration programme is to assist investors who are interested in shares of issuers that have listed in both Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The programme is expected to benefit investors in both markets and help increase the visibility of issuers with securities trading in Hong Kong as well as Shenzhen.

Under the HKEx-SZSE programme, which is similar to HKEx's market data collaboration programme with Shanghai Stock Exchange (SHSE), both parties are entitled to redistribute the other party's basic real-time market data for the companies with securities listed in both markets to their own authorised information vendors (IVs) for onward transmission to the IVs' subscribers for internal display purposes. The usual exchange fees for market data are waived for the two parties, their IVs and their IVs' market data subscribers under the collaboration programme.

The HKEx-SZSE programme will come into effect on 1 May 2010 and will expire at the end of next year. The original end date of the HKEx-SHSE programme was the end of December this year, but it has been revised and is now also the end of next year.
