S2 Systems, Inc.,today announced the successful roll out of S2 Systems' OpeN/2 platform at Coventry Building Society to drive pre-paid mobile phone top-ups across its ATM network.
S2 Systems and industry partner SPL (Systems People Limited) achieved the milestone with Coventry Building Society utilising NCR Personas advanced function ATMs with APTRA software. Coventry Building Society is the fifth largest building society in the UK with assets of over £9 billion and serving almost 1,000,000 members.
Coventry's new cash machine functionality enables customers to replenish credit on mobile phones using a LINK (LINK Interchange Network, Ltd.) ATM card. Customers of participating mobile phone operators are able to top-up their pay-as-you-go mobile phones without charge at any Coventry Building Society CashLink machine or other machines displaying the top-up logo.
The competitive new service is quick, convenient and available 24 hours, 7 days a week. OpeN/2 enables online payment authorization direct from the customer's account and the top-up is then credited to the phone within a few seconds. Participating mobile phone operators currently include Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, Orange, Virgin Mobile and Tesco Mobile.
"The recent launch of convenient ATM mobile top-up services marks another milestone for Coventry as we continue to develop and deliver exciting new services to our customers," said Giles Chipperfield, Chief Information Officer of Coventry Building Society. "This service is totally free of charge and another example of putting our members first by eliminating the need for mobile phone users to visit a retailer or purchase a pre-pay voucher. S2 Systems' OpeN/2 enables customers to easily top up their mobile phone at any one of the Society's 56 cash machines by authorising the transaction from their account."
Coventry ATM mobile top-up services enable members to credit their mobile with air-time from a mobile phone network by following the screen prompts at any LINK branded or top-up badged ATM. They simply select their mobile phone network and choice of amount from six pre-defined values of £10, £15, £20, £30, £40 or £50. S2 Systems' OpeN/2 then handles the online authorisation of funds; once it is approved, the top-up is performed by the mobile phone network via the LINK switch.
"Financial institutions can now gain significant competitive advantage by enabling mobile top-up services with the utilisation of NCR's APTRA software and S2 Systems' OpeN/2," said Simon Rubin, vice president of North Europe for NCR's Financial Solutions Division. "APTRA and NCR's advanced function ATMs allow organisations to deliver greater value by offering mobile top-ups while managing the self-service channel far more efficiently."
S2 Systems' OpeN/2 application for mobile top-ups enables Coventry Building Society to meet strategic business goals by leveraging best-of-breed technologies that provide quicker time-to-market. Coventry deployed OpeN/2 to drive 56 NCR ATMs to perform mobile top-up services as well as standard ATM balance enquiries, mini-statements, cash withdrawals, pin changes and deposits.
"S2 Systems provides financial institutions with the kind of architectural framework that supports increasingly popular value added services such as prepaid mobile top-ups at ATMs," said Stephen Clark, president and CEO of S2 Systems. "Today's increasingly complex IT environment requires a more flexible collaborative technology approach; customers choose S2 Systems' OpeN/2 platform because of its proven flexibility and speed-to-market. We are delighted that Coventry Building Society has passed another milestone with the launch of mobile top-ups utilising OpeN/2 and look forward to further enhancements."
SPL and S2 Systems have been working in concert to deliver and implement Coventry Building Society's chosen payment processing solution and related applications. The Yorkshire-based company's specialists in authorisation and transaction switching have over 50 years of collective experience in card payments.
