aXsGUARD Gatekeeper is VASCO's remote access solution offering a plug-and play total solution for secure network connectivity.

Thanks to the SSL-VPN client support of aXsGUARD Gatekeeper PC users can connect to their VPN any time and anywhere. The SSL-VPN client is installed on the end-user's PC.

The SSL-VPN client requires a certificate and password. However it is best to protect the SSL-VPN access by using the certificate in combination with a one-time password (OTP). The OTP replaces the use of insecure static passwords. In contrary to PPTP, IPsec or L2TP clients, it connects to the VPN server over https, the protocol which is used to browse the Internet securely.

aXsGUARD Gatekeeper now also offers PKI support, providing an extra security layer for Windows logon. When using PKI with aXsGUARD Gatekeeper, IT administrators will be able to install DIGIPASS CertiID on the end-users' PCs. DIGIPASS CertiID is VASCO's client-based software suite using PKI-technology for secure logon and to sign transactions or confidential documents. End-users will be equipped with DIGIPASS KEY 200 or DIGIPASS KEY 860 for logon. aXsGUARD Gatekeeper has an integrated certificate management system, allowing to generate certificates within the appliance. These certificates can then be used for the SSL-VPN clients as well as for other purposes like Windows logon with smart cards.

DIGIPASS KEY 200 is a USB device with a PKI smart card chip and secure USB mass storage on a single device. It can be used for local and remote access to the corporate network and applications, the use of PKI for encryption and digital signature and mobile data security. It combines PKI technology, secured mass storage and the possibility to integrate RFID technology for physical access. DIGIPASS KEY 860 combines OTP technology with PKI and also offers secured mass storage and offers new opportunities to effectively combat phishing and man-in-the-middle attacks.

Furthermore aXsGUARD offers support for Windows 7 and bridging support has been added to allow users to connect to other network segments than their own LAN segment.

"SME's are typically looking for budget friendly total network connectivity solutions. aXsGUARD Gatekeeper provides an answer to that specific need and now also puts PKI within the reach of smaller enterprises, allowing them to secure Windows logon but also transaction and document signing," says Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security.
