Selerity, a provider of real-time event data solutions for the financial services industry, today announced the launch of its ultra-low-latency platform for delivering machine-readable U.S. Corporate and Economic event data.

The Selerity Platform allows investment firms to make accelerated decisions using breaking events.

Created to meet the needs of sophisticated investment firms, including hedge funds, banks and proprietary trading companies, Selerity uses a proprietary, real-time search and extraction technology - combined with event analysts - to produce market-moving factual data on U.S. corporate earnings, key performance indicators, guidance and select economic indicators from primary sources. Selerity generates factually based machine-readable messages and delivers them in real time to clients' automated trading and risk management systems, enabling them to execute event-driven trading strategies.

"There is an obvious shift happening in today's market from digital to machine-readable, semantic data," said Ryan Terpstra, Founder and CEO of Selerity. "At Selerity, we are dedicated to building the next generation financial information & technology company to capture this phase of evolution. Our proprietary solutions enable financial professionals to better manage breaking and future events that might affect their trading strategies, and allow them to better manage real-time risk."

"Selerity is at the forefront of technology and data delivery, and is leading the drive to deliver ultra-low-latency, market-moving events to the financial markets," commented Roger Ehrenberg, Managing Partner of IA Venture Strategies and Board of Directors member at Selerity. "The team at Selerity has a clear vision for success, and I look forward to working with them as a board member to help the firm reach its goals."

Selerity was founded, and is led, by Ryan Terpstra, who is responsible for the overall strategic direction, operations and leadership of the company. Prior to Selerity, Ryan was the Director of Quantitative News at Thomson Reuters, where he led the design, build and launch of the company's machine-readable news offering.

Supporting the management team in an advisory capacity, Selerity's Board of Directors and advisors include veterans of the financial industry, including Doug Atkin, CEO of Atkin-WR Hambrecht Financial Technology Fund and previously President and CEO of Instinet; Roger Ehrenberg, Managing Partner of IA Venture Strategies, an early-stage venture fund focused on tools and technologies for managing and extracting value from "big data" and author of the Information Arbitrage blog, which was named one of the "Top 25 Financial Blogs" by 24/7 Wall Street in 2009; Ian Koenig, Chief Architect, LexisNexis; Aaron Lebovitz, Principal at Infinium Capital Management; and Donal Smith, CEO of Data Explorers and formerly CEO of Thomson Financial's businesses in Europe and Asia.

Since its inception over a year ago, Selerity has focused its efforts on building out its team and operational infrastructure. Selerity is headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey and operates key data centers in Chicago and Secaucus, NJ.
