Having previously applied ALG's Metify ABM solution, Scottish Widows has benefited from a good understanding of unit cost and profitability of product ranges and distribution channels across its business units. Metify ABM is also helping to identify non-value adding activity within business areas such as Operations and Marketing and Distribution.

Activity Analysis combines the rich functionality of Metify ABM with Web-deployment, a key component of ALG Software's Enterprise Performance Optimisation suite.

Activity Analysis' web-based functionality will be used by Scottish Widows to speed up data collection and distribute tailored reporting more widely through the organisation. Unit cost and profitability reports will become more accessible to business areas' senior management so that they can not only analyse the data that is useful to them, but also analyse it to the level of detail that they require.

Darren Worrall, Senior Finance Manager, Scottish Widows, comments, "Metify ABM gave senior managers a good understanding of what drove cost within their business areas. Activity Analysis will enable them to access the information much more quickly and frequently, so that activity-based management becomes part of their daily routine and a key tool in their management strategies."

Worrall continues, "Activity Analysis will not only meet our current demands, but also meet our future requirements."

Scottish Widows' Activity Analysis system will go live at the end of Q1 2004. The web-reporting functionality will be introduced in Q2 2004.
