Digital Check, a provider of desktop check scanners and remote deposit capture technology to the financial industry, announced the launch of the SB family of check scanners for small business, including the SB500, SB600 and SB1000 scanners, that are inexpensive, lightweight and ideal for mobile and home office use.

Digital Check acquired the rights to and now supports the successful SB1000 check and document scanner from San Francisco-based BankServ and adds two new mobile scanners, the SB500 and SB600, to the portable, USB-driven scanner family. The SB500 weighs only 11 ounces and can scan checks and credit or debit cards, while the SB600 weighs 18 ounces and can scan checks along with full-page documents.

"Starting at less than $200, our bank and credit union users along with our solution partners can now further penetrate the price-sensitive one- to 10-check per day mobile, small business and SOHO market. Our SB products can help enhance the business case for customers such as real estate agents, small business owners, field service personnel and home office based businesses to use this service," said John Gainer, executive vice president of Digital Check. "The flexibility and lower price point of these scanners, along with our CheXpress CX30, takes the industry a step closer towards mass market adoption of remote deposit capture by small businesses."

These portable SB series scanners fit easily into a standard briefcase or console of a work truck or car and are powered through the USB port of a desktop or laptop computer or through an optional DC power supply. Additionally, the SB series is fully integrated with Digital Check's API version 10.0, which offers duplex scanning of images in a single pass, up to 600 dpi image quality, and the automatic skew correction feature specifically developed for the SB series by Digital Check. By bundling support of the SB series with API v10.0, solution providers can support every model of scanner from Digital Check using a single scanner interface.
