MasterCard's TQM program was created in 2002 to help ensure the quality and reliability of EMV-compliant terminals worldwide. The TQM process consists of auditing, on-site, the entire lifecycle of a product - from design and manufacturing to field support - thus helping to ensure customer satisfaction through consistent product quality levels. MasterCard's TQM label is specific to an Interface Module (IFM) and is manufacturing site dependent.
MasterCard audited Trintech's hardware development facility in Ireland and manufacturing facility in the UK. The audit covered the two IFMs which are implemented in Trintech's range of industry-leading Chip and PIN terminals - Compact 950 PIN Pad, Smart 5000 PIN Pad and the OpenPay series.
"MasterCard is committed to delivering fully interoperable chip solutions that perform consistently around the world," said Dr. Toni Merschen, Senior Vice President and Head of the Chip Center of Excellence, MasterCard International. "Our Terminal Quality Management program is a key part of our strategy and we are very pleased that Trintech has demonstrated its commitment to quality by successfully undertaking this evaluation process."
"Trintech was one of the first vendors to rollout EMV-approved solutions," said Eamon Keating, General Manager of Trintech's Payment Division. "We are now one of the first to embrace MasterCard's Terminal Quality Management program to reinforce our position as a leading vendor in the payments industry."
Benefits of TQM to Financial Institutions and Merchants:
Provides reassurance and saves time on evaluating different terminals by being able to choose from the MasterCard TQM approved list. Improved confidence in vendor's ability to ensure reliable and consistent design and manufacturing in accordance with EMV specifications. Demonstrates the ability of the vendor to be able to trace, analyze and resolve any issues in the manufacturing and design process.
