Caplin Systems Ltd., the leader in web-based trading technology, today announced support for Silverlight-based client trading portals.
The Caplin Trader server technology now connects through Caplin's StreamLink software direct to front-end trading portals developed using Silverlight, Microsoft's Rich Internet Application (RIA) framework. The first deployment of this is about to go live at a global investment bank, which will be using this as its single dealer portal for thousands of clients worldwide across a variety of asset classes. The bank has already gleaned the benefits of Caplin's low latency, high performance server technology.
Paul Caplin, CEO of Caplin Systems, said: "As banks focus on their client-facing channels to attract and retain business, they are increasingly recognising the benefits of using RIAs for delivering compelling and resilient single-dealer trading portals. Indeed, the days of the 'one size fits all' approach to trading will soon be over, as banks look to offer each user a unique experience. We already support Java-, Ajax- and .Net-based client portals, so the addition of Silverlight gives us even more scope to support trading institutions through our high performance technology."
Developed for relentless and uncompromising trading environments, the Caplin Trader platform technology is highly scalable: it is capable of delivering millions of user updates per second while supporting tens of thousands of concurrent users. The solution provides a bi-directional communications capability including real-time streaming, which delivers trade messages and market data to and from subscribers over any network. Additionally, the platform, which is easily integrated with a bank's trading, pricing and permissioning systems, manages load balancing, business logic modelling and systems and latency monitoring.
