Numerix, the leading independent, cross-asset, analytics service provider for the structuring, pricing and valuation of derivatives and structured products, today announced the expansion of Numerix University to include London in its financial engineer certification program.

The program expansion follows the successful launch of Numerix University and certification of 30 financial engineers in New York earlier this year. Out of 160 total applicants, 64 were accepted into the Numerix University program, with 30 ultimately being granted the "Numerix Certified Financial Engineer" certification.

This Numerix University curriculum was launched in March of this year and is offered at no expense as a value-add to qualified Financial Engineers who have been casualties of the economy. The series of courses is designed for financial engineers to learn the foundational skills for pricing and managing complex derivatives. Those individuals who successfully complete this curriculum will complete a significant step in becoming a "Numerix Certified Financial Engineer" and will be recommended for development projects internally or to Numerix customers and partners. As a Numerix Certified Financial Engineer, it is expected that those individuals can enter any organization or Numerix customer and make an immediate contribution the firm's developmental efforts.

"Our initial New York course program was a tremendous success and was a chance for Numerix to give something back to those seeking employment in the industry," said Numerix President and COO Steven R. O'Hanlon. "We had 64 participants and in the three sessions we trained and certified 30 people as Numerix Certified Financial Engineers. The expansion of Numerix University to include London is a natural progression for us and is a direct measure of how needed and valuable such training is for those individuals in our industry. We look forward to the continued roll-out of Numerix University later in the year."

Numerix is presently offering three separate course programs focused on different asset classes. Candidates must hold advanced degrees in financial engineering, applied mathematics or equivalent disciplines and have worked with derivatives at a financial institution or software company. As part of the selection process, applicants will be required to take a brief on-line exam. Similar courses are offered to Numerix clients at a cost of $3,000 per attendee.

In some instances, through strategic partnership with Bloomberg, Numerix University courses will be held in Bloomberg's state-of-the art training facilities across the globe. Numerix University courses are being planned for Hong Kong later this year and additional syllabi designed for IT professionals will be introduced in the coming months.
