The Verizon Business Security Solutions team is assessing Jware's payment applications to help ensure they fully meet the requirements for the new Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) certification, which is designed to complement and reinforce the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification for merchants and service providers involved in financial data transactions.

Jware Technologies develops card payment solutions to meet both the functional and technical requirements of secure transaction processing. Headquartered in France, the company works with financial institutions, third-party processors, retailers and companies that are deploying secure transactions services mainly in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Given the company's focus on software development for the financial services sector, compliance with industry standards is critical. The new PA-DSS standard provides a benchmark for secure payment applications that do not store prohibited data -- including full magnetic stripe, PIN data and other sensitive data-identification methods. Verizon Business will conduct a thorough audit of Jware Technologies' solutions to support the company's bid to validate PA-DSS certification before the end of 2009.

Jware's solutions are already compliant with PCI DSS and this additional PA-DSS certification is part of the company's ongoing customer support strategy. The PA-DSS certification will benefit Jware's customers in their own PCI DSS certification efforts.

Arnaud Crouzet, chief marketing officer at Jware Technologies, commented: "Our customers need robust, secure payment solutions based on market standards to ensure they themselves remain fully compliant with global standards designed to protect the consumer. Our solutions are already PCI DSS compliant and with the help of the knowledge and expertise of Verizon Business' professional security solutions team, we will be able to ensure that our software solutions are also fully compliant with the new PA-DSS certification.

"We are focused on the needs of our customers and this approach provides them with reassurance in our solutions as well as supporting their own PCI DSS compliance requirements. And by using third-party expertise to help us in this aim, we can focus our own attention on responding to the evolving needs of the payment and secure transactions processing market."

Toufic Daaboul, PCI DSS development manager for Verizon Business, said: "A strong security foundation is key to success in the financial transactions market. Jware Technologies offers its customers a comprehensive framework of advanced transaction solutions that are easy to deploy, highly scalable and secure - and compliance with industry standards is absolutely business-critical if these solutions there are able to meet its customers' specific needs. Verizon Business' strong track record and proven experience of supporting companies in the electronic banking services market will help the company continue to provide its customers with industry-compliant solutions that enable them to do business better."
