Lombardi, a leader in business process management (BPM) software, today announced that Aviva plc, the world's fifth-largest insurance group and one of the leading providers of life and pensions products in Europe, has selected its award-winning BPM product and services portfolio to support the company's strategic process improvement efforts globally.
Commenting on Aviva's selection of Lombardi, Toby Redshaw, CIO, said: "I consider modern BPM to be one of a handful of breakthrough technologies that can have real short-term P&L impact. In an era when virtually all IT shops are being asked to do more with less, Lombardi's solution really helps us deliver in that way. Over time, BPM will become the mainstream IT construction technology and we believe partnering with Lombardi now will get us there faster and better than any other choice in the market."
The strategic agreement announced today enables Aviva plc to utilize Lombardi Blueprint, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) process documentation and collaboration tool, and Lombardi Teamworks, the company's flagship BPM Suite for designing, executing, and improving business processes across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.
One example is how Lombardi Teamworks is managing Aviva's Human Resources employee Joiners, Movers and Leavers (JML) process within Aviva group centre. "Our new Teamworks-based process has helped us to create a more joined up and efficient way of managing our people across Aviva's group centre. It has become a crucial resource for our business and allows managers to spend more of their time on value-add activities", said Deirdre Galvin, business director to the chief executive at Aviva plc.
Aviva is already realising a number of benefits from the improvements of the JML process. The time to productivity for new employees has improved and co-ordination between the line manager, HR, and the IT department has been simplified.
Currently, Aviva is also using Lombardi Blueprint to map and refine its IT Quality Management System (QMS) in the UK general insurance business. To date, approximately one hundred people across disparate locations are using the wiki-like tool to document the process in near real-time. Blueprint helps the company to collect a wider set of input and comments from a broader set of Subjectt Matter Experts, ensuring that the effort is completed with a greater level of control and speed.
"Lombardi provides Aviva with BPM technology and best practices that are already proving their value in many ways by allowing greater process collaboration, visibility and agility for management." said, Alan Godfrey, executive vice president and general manager, Lombardi Europe. "We are very proud to be selected as Aviva's strategic global BPM partner."
