At Customer Connection 2009, Sterling Commerce introduced Sterling Business Integration Suite, a comprehensive suite of industry-leading integration solutions to provide a holistic approach to integrating business processes inside and outside the enterprise.

Sterling Business Integration Suite Improves Business Agility, Increases Operational Efficiency, and Drives Greater Business Performance

The Suite is an end-to-end integration solution that enables companies to improve business agility, increase operational efficiency, and drive business performance. Sterling Commerce also introduced new capabilities to the Suite that deepen its ability to integrate any partner, any system, any where.

Addressing the critical challenges of business-to-business (B2B) integration, managed file transfer, and enterprise integration, the Suite enables companies to optimise their business collaboration network - the ecosystem of customers, partners and suppliers with whom they do business - by providing better interoperability and visibility with fewer tools, therefore yielding the greatest amount of value and return on investment.

In a December 2008 study commissioned by of Sterling Commerce, Forrester Consulting found that "a more strategic approach is needed in the form of an enterprise integration strategy that considers the full range of integration needs and provides strategic guidance on applicable solutions." The research also found that over 80 percent of all enterprises are planning to enhance their internal and B2B integration capability during the next twelve months to gain operational efficiencies and lower costs.[i] For full details on this research, see the related release at:

"Sterling Business Integration Suite represents an innovative approach to addressing the integration challenges companies face in managing their business collaboration networks," said Scott Pulsipher, senior vice president of products and marketing, Sterling Commerce. "By using the Suite's comprehensive set of capabilities, companies can avoid complex cross-vendor implementations, yielding the greatest amount of value and ROI from their integration projects."

"With Sterling Business Integration Suite, we are able to move our high volume of documents on a daily basis much quicker, cheaper, and in higher quality. It also meets all of our information protection and compliance requirements and does so in an easy-to-use manner for those who use the system," said Ian Silver, Senior Technical Analyst at Ameriprise Financial, a leading financial planning and services company. "We now have repeatable processes across all of our different business partners, both external and internal, enabling us to cut connection times in half. We have driven another 10-20 percent out of our standard integration costs through operational efficiencies."

Sterling Business Integration Suite offers a comprehensive set of capabilities including security, communications, partner on-boarding and management, and process automation and visibility. Sterling Commerce continues to drive benefits with new capabilities, including:

  • Reducing the cost and resources involved in on-boarding and managing large and diverse communities with Sterling Community Manager.
  • Helping customers extend B2B capabilities to their business partners, regardless of their size and technical expertise, with Sterling Web Forms On Demand and Sterling Fax Conversion Services.
  • Accelerating and simplifying customer access to their financial business partners with Sterling SWIFT Service Bureau.
  • Helping companies expedite their business processes that depend on either moving large files or transferring files between an organisation and its many partners using different protocols, file naming conventions, and file formats with Sterling File Accelerator and Sterling File Gateway.

"Trends like globalisation, digitisation, stiffer regulation, and the need for increased security are making comprehensive integration increasingly more important for businesses every day," said Abhishek, AVP & Head, BPM-EAI Practice at Infosys Technologies Ltd. "Companies are facing a rapidly changing and increasingly complex set of business issues that can't be effectively addressed on a tactical, one by one basis. Addressing these issues demands a comprehensive integration solution combined with world-class services."
