National tourism agency, VisitBritain, has added a new VisitBritain Prepaid MasterCard to its online shop, visitbritaindirect.com, extending the range of items that potential visitors to Britain can buy before they fly.
The organisation today (27 April 2009) launches its partnership with CorporatePay to deliver the VisitBritain Prepaid Cashcard designed to allow tourists, business travellers, students and workers visiting the UK an alternative means of bringing Sterling into the country.
It will help Britains competitiveness as an affordable destination, offering great value for money. Consumers can load up their card with British Pounds before they travel and use with no commission or merchant transaction fees on purchases. The chip and pin card is an easy, safe and convenient way for travellers to manage their budget and plan how they will spend their time. The card can be purchased and topped up online at the touch of a button.
The VisitBritain Prepaid Cashcard will be available on visitbritaindirect.com in Germany from 5 May and will be rolled-out in a further 10 European and long haul countries over the following 10 months. Full information on the German card can be found at visitbritaincashcard.com/de
Myles Stephenson, CEO of CorporatePay commented: With more than 32 million overseas visitors coming to the UK annually and spending in excess of 16 billion the inbound travel market represents a key focus for CorporatePay. VisitBritain has been responsible for the successful promotion of Britains tourism economy for many years and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to work together to deliver the VisitBritain Prepaid Cashcard.
Kevin Jones, E Commerce Account and Marketing Manager for VisitBritain commented: With the potential that many more people will visit us this year to take advantage of great exchange rates, the VisitBritain Prepaid Cashcard will make it even easier for them to make the most of their stay.
VisitBritains 17 online shops (visitbritaindirect.com) aim to maximise income and benefits for the UKs visitor economy and the sectors and businesses it supports. Covering 25 markets the shops directly receive over 1.5 million visits a year, providing a significant consumer audience for a range of products such as theatre and attraction tickets, travel passes and Oyster cards, and hotel and venue bookings.
