Smart card expert Sagem Orga (SAFRAN Group) and leading payment card manufacturer Thames Card Technology (TCT) announce the expansion of their strategic partnership agreement.
The new contract, which supersedes the current agreement and runs for a further three years, provides a proven, credible and cost-effective route to market for Sagem Orga's EMV payment solutions. It utilizes TCT's well-established and flexible UK-based card manufacturing facilities.
Paul Underwood, Managing Director at TCT: "The combination of Sagem Orga's leading-edge EMV payment portfolio and our reputable, comprehensive card manufacturing, embedding and personalization services is a compelling option for card issuers in the UK and other countries. The extension of the relationship with Sagem Orga underpins TCT's recent and planned investments in card manufacturing, embedding and personalization capacity. This enables TCT to continue to provide extremely cost-effective pricing and consistently fast card manufacturing lead times of typically three weeks to satisfy the increasingly complex demands of a growing customer base."
The Sagem Orga and TCT business relationship was first established in 2006 and combines best-of-breed payment card solutions from Sagem Orga with fully EMV-accredited and flexible card manufacturing, embedding and personalization services from TCT. The joint commercial and technical offering focuses on providing tailor-able and cost-effective solutions to existing and emerging EMV Payment Card Issuers in the UK and other territories.
Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Pierre Henri Manégrier, Senior VP EMEA Banking, Health & ID at Sagem Orga said, "The established business relationship between Sagem Orga and TCT has already proven to be successful for both organizations with many millions of EMV payment cards sold to UK financial institutions over the past few years. Our offering has already been selected by a large number of UK prepaid debit card programs and a major UK credit card issuer. Sagem Orga looks forward to enhancing and expanding the joint commercial and technical activity with TCT."
