Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and Microsoft Corporation announced today they have launched an initiative to raise awareness about IT security issues in the workplace focusing particularly on how to safeguard confidential and sensitive information.
The awareness programme is being run for all brokers and staff in the Exchange.
"While IT security is a vital component of any business, financial institutions, especially stock exchanges, are particularly at risk due to the amount of sensitive personal and corporate financial information involved," said Ghanem Dhaheri, Head of IT at ADX.
"Upgrading our IT security systems and improving awareness of the dangers is an ongoing and vital process for ADX because technology and ways to exploit it advance on a daily basis. We also see it as a priority for all our staff to be aware of the risks, not just our trained IT staff," he concluded.
Naim Yazbeck, Public Sector Director, Microsoft Gulf added, "With more business and personal data moving online and the frequency and cost of data breaches on the rise, protecting information is more important than ever. In a global economy that relies on the massive flow and exchange of information, protecting privacy is a critical element of how we serve our customers. Microsoft's innovative development processes and technologies have resulted in more secure and privacy-enhancing products and services for organizations like the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) to help them take proactive measures in protecting their infrastructure and data."
