Digital Check, a leading provider of desktop check scanners for the remote deposit capture and financial industry, announced the addition of franking capabilities to its innovative new check scanner designed for the merchant and small and medium business markets.

The CheXpress CX30 check scanner delivers bank quality image and MICR data without compromising functionality to achieve low cost demanded by the smaller business customer.
The CheXpress CX30 provides multiple features that help financial institutions to comply with the recently released Federal Financial Institution's Examination Council (FFIEC) guidance regarding risk management of remote deposit capture, which is impacting financial institutions, processors, service providers, businesses and end-users throughout the industry.

The CX30 reduces the risk of duplicate deposit with the addition of the franking feature, which adds a franking mark to checks that have been run through the scanner indicating that the item has been processed.

The guidelines also indicate customer locations can be exposed to higher risk due to a number of factors, including poor image quality from the scanner. The CX30 includes 300 dpi non-contact scan heads, which produce the highest image quality in the industry even with wrinkled or damaged checks. In addition, the CX30's unique scan and return mode allows a small business user to capture the check image twice, using two different resolution settings to ensure the highest quality image. The CX30's patent pending Automatic Gain Control feature also provides potentially the most accurate MICR reading in the industry today by optimizing the MICR settings on each individual item between the first and second pass.

"We have put our 50 years of experience into building the CheXpress product to guarantee that CX30 will produce the highest quality image and MICR and the highest degree of reliability at a low price point to help accelerate adoption in the small business segment," said John Gainer, executive vice president for Digital Check. "Whether it is for a top ten bank or a small business, our scanners bring a level of security and trust that is unsurpassed in the industry."
