ACE Software Solutions, a global provider of payment processing products for the financial sector, today announced the contract to implement its PELICAN™ payment processing platform at Rabobank in Utrecht, Netherlands.

"We now have an opportunity to maximise the cost benefits of communication over the SWIFT network," said Arno Schellekens, Head of Payments Operations, Rabobank.

The Rabobank Group, a non-listed Dutch financial services provider founded on cooperative principles, is a world leader in financing in the Food & Agriculture sector, and is the largest retail bank in the Netherlands.

Rabobank uses a wide range of SWIFT services, covering the payments, securities, trade and treasury business areas. In terms of FIN traffic, Rabobank is a top-100 user, and current usage of the Accord service makes the Rabobank one of its three most active global participants.

As a consequence of developments in business areas, market infrastructures and SWIFT technology, Rabobank is set to meet a number of challenges. These challenges relate to significant growth forecasts, higher standards of availability, the need for servicing the full SWIFT-portfolio, and the necessity of accommodating all SWIFT supported formats, particularly FileAct and XML.

Added Parth Desai, CEO, ACE Software Solutions, "We are delighted that Rabobank has chosen PELICAN to manage the new demands of the European Payment market. We believe it is the first of many financial institutions to recognise the need for a higher level of service for all payments irrespective of value."
