Nasdaq OMX launches Market Pathfinders data feed

The Nasdaq OMX Group (Nasdaq:NDAQ) today introduced Nasdaq Market Pathfinders.

This new, real-time data feed provides unparalleled insight into the aggregated buying and selling patterns of well-informed market participants.

Market Pathfinders captures the sentiment of NASDAQ market participants as a whole, and enables users to compare the number of bullish vs. bearish "Pathfinders" and the number of shares they bought and sold.

"Market Pathfinders is an innovative product that allows all investors to gain insight into the trading paths that well informed market participants are taking," said Randall Hopkins, Senior Vice President, NASDAQ OMX Global Data Products. "Market Pathfinders offers a level of market awareness previously enjoyed exclusively by market participants who have access to large amounts of order flow. In volatile market conditions, Market Pathfinders can help investors improve the quality of their trades."

Market Pathfinders does not reveal the identities of the market participants -- it is the aggregation of their trading activity that is used to determine market sentiment. Market Pathfinders can help investors anticipate price increases or decreases by indicating buying or selling volume from those participants taking active positions.

The information delivered by Market Pathfinders is based on NASDAQ trade data and is updated every minute for every security traded on NASDAQ including NYSE-, Amex- and regional exchange-listed securities.

Market Pathfinders complements NASDAQ Market Velocity(r) and Market Forces(r), enabling investors to follow market activity in both orders and trades.

Market Pathfinders will be available as a data feed for algorithmic traders and distributors and as a NASDAQ Display Solution, available to investors directly through the NASDAQ OMX DataStore.
