New customers switching to Alliance & Leicester's Premier or Premier 50 current accounts will receive a £100 boost and can apply online, by telephone or in a branch.

This is just one of a range of incentives Alliance & Leicester offers to encourage people to break free from poor value bank accounts, and switch to a deal which makes their money stretch further and suits all their banking needs.

Andy Muddimer, Current Account Manager at Alliance & Leicester said: "After what is likely to be an expensive Christmas for many people, the New Year is an ideal time for people to start sorting out their finances, and in particular to take a closer look at their current account.

"It is a concern that two thirds (67%**) of banking customers have not switched current accounts in the last decade. Alliance & Leicester is providing a great reason to review your current account, and make your money stretch further."

Andy Muddimer continued: "This is a win-win for customers, they get a market-leading current account to make their money stretch further, and they also get to pocket £100 - not bad when money might be tight after Christmas."

*The £100 bonus will be paid to new customers applying for an Alliance & Leicester Premier or Premier 50 current account from Monday 5 January 2008. The payment will be made within 4 months of the account opening if direct debits and standing orders have been transferred using the Premier Switching Service and Premier Current Account customers have funded at least £500 within 11 weeks.

**Research conducted by Opinium Research on behalf of Alliance & Leicester Current Accounts between 28 and 31 October 2008. The poll was conducted online with 2,000 British adults.
