SWIFT is an industry-owned cooperative that supplies secure messaging services and interface software to 7,650 financial institutions in more than 200 countries over a Secure IP Network. Through Connect:Direct 3.0 for SWIFTNet, SWIFT members can automate and manage their file exchanges between back-office applications and other member institutions over the FileAct service without the requirement to maintain a constant online presence to receive the files.
Member institutions using Connect:Direct 3.0 for SWIFTNet will realize significant business efficiencies by having the option to orchestrate file exchanges over FileAct in both a real-time and store-and-forward mode. This technology is an ideal way to cost-effectively exchange a broad variety of files such as bulk payments, securities value-added reporting, commercial trade information, credit-related information, and intra-institution information.
"With many SWIFT FileAct users already using Connect:Direct for SWIFTNet to intelligently manage their file exchanges over FileAct, we are delighted to see the capabilities extended to include the SWIFTNet 5.0 store-and-forward service," says Alain Drese, manager of Customer Integration for SWIFTNet. "The new Sterling Commerce solution provides business value to our SWIFT members by managing the file delivery and retrieval of information between business applications and the FileAct service, so data is delivered on time as dictated by the business process."
Connect:Direct® 3.0 for SWIFTNet provides automation facilities to securely exchange files with other Connect:Direct nodes and manages the delivery and receipt of business data with the FileAct service. The solution is application and data-format independent, providing implementation flexibility and low integration cost.
"Sterling Commerce is already favored by the global finance sector for the transfer of data across multiple platforms and multiple enterprises in a secure and reliable environment," says Nolan Rosen, chief marketing officer at Sterling Commerce. "Connect:Direct for SWIFTNet 3.0 together with FileAct allows institutions to exchange information in a more economical way, extending the reach of FileAct for a higher return on their SWIFTNet investment."
