With this release, Pyxis Mobile delivers the unparalleled ability for IT staff, integrators, and developers to build and customize mobile applications, connect to enterprise data sources, and manage mobile deployments without coding, compilation, or software re-deployment. General availability for Pyxis Mobile 6.0 will be April 25, 2008.

The largest enhancement with the 6.0 release is the introduction of Pyxis Mobile's Application Studio. Application Studio provides a rich, graphical platform where customers may design screens, menus, reports & charts, dashboards, and other features using an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface. Administrators can generate new mobile applications in minutes by connecting to existing databases or web services. Customers may continue to choose from Pyxis Mobile's award-winning library of pre-built applications for wholesalers, bankers, portfolio managers, and other financial professionals, and may now opt to customize those packaged applications to meet additional business requirements.

Application Studio is the central management interface for all application design and administration, user management, logging & auditing, and data connectivity. New role-based access control allows segmented access for each administrative group. Wireless administrators can connect to data sources including all major database platforms, numerous commercial software applications, web services via the standard WSDL plug-in, or to proprietary systems using the Plug-In SDK. These connectivity options provide real-time access to critical data and systems such as CRM, sales, order management, investment banking, accounting, and IT support. Applications are available on BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices, and via browser using Pyxis Mobile Desktop Edition.

"For years we have used these same tools internally to build new applications for our customers," said Todd Christy, CTO and co-founder of Pyxis Mobile. "We're excited to bring these powerful application design capabilities to our customers. I look forward to seeing how they use Application Studio to connect to new systems and deliver compelling new wireless applications to their business users."

Release 6.0 includes other exciting features including new GUI controls like tabs and graphical selectors, improved dashboard features, hotkeys, style support, modular import & export capabilities, and the ability to look up contacts directly from BlackBerry phone, email, and address book applications.
