American Express Incentive Services (AEIS), an incentive industry leader, has entered into a licensing agreement with eCommLink (eCL), a full-service prepaid debit card processor and issuer.

eCL will utilize AEIS' DirectSpend patented merchant acceptance process (U.S. Patent Numbers 5,689,100 and 5,956,695) to offer prepaid solutions directing cardholder spend to selected merchants and merchant groupings.

eCL offers a suite of full-service prepaid debit card solutions in the physical, virtual, and mobile commerce space to merchants, financial intuitions, and America's underbanked consumers. They will leverage DirectSpend technology via their prepaid debit card programs to provide clients an innovative tool in equity marketing.

"The DirectSpend process will enable eCL to enhance their broad range of next-generation prepaid offerings," said Sheree Herr, vice president of licensing at AEIS. "eCL understands the value DirectSpend customization can provide, and will take advantage of this technology to offer new revenue streams to their clients."

"Innovation drives our success and that of our customers," added T. Jack Williams, president of eCL. "The key to successful prepaid card programs is the depth and breadth of the offering - delivering distinctive solutions that align with the niche of the card. AEIS' DirectSpend technology will enable us to offer our clients the tools to increase their market share while building loyalty and equity in an aspirational incentive program."
