The solution includes the new compact SlimCash 200 ATM complete with system and monitoring software as well as a software application for the creation of advertising campaigns.

Thanks to its very small base area of roughly three square feet, the SlimCash 200 terminal is ideally suited for use in tight spaces at non-banking sites, such as supermarkets, gas stations, bars, restaurants, office buildings and movie theaters. The ATM offers consumers easy access to cash wherever they need it. In addition, they can use the system to pay invoices and reload their prepay cell phone cards.

An optional feature of the SlimCash 200 is an illuminated accessory for advertising. Complex advertising campaigns and other marketing measures can be created with the integrated software, allowing operators of the ATM to generate additional revenue through third-party advertising.

The SlimCash is easy to maintain. The Automated Device Repair System (ADRS) is a software solution that automatically repairs system interruptions, ensuring high system availability and low cost of ownership.

When developing the new terminal, Wincor Nixdorf put a special emphasis on easy end-user operation and ergonomics. The system meets all international ergonomics standards.

The ATM system can be easily integrated into a multi-vendor environment thanks to a software solution that comes with the system. The modular design ensures a flexible adaptation to site conditions. LAN and modem communications are possible.

Separately, Wincor Nixdorf, one of the world's leading suppliers of total IT solutions for the banking and retail industries, has rolled out its 10,000th bulk check deposit ATM.

First introduced in 2005, the ATM is the only one currently available that allows consumers to deposit up to 50 checks or notes at one time in a single deposit slot without an envelope.

The 10,000th Wincor Nixdorf bulk check deposit ATM was manufactured in Paderborn, Germany and rolled out in California, by Wells Fargo, the fifth largest financial institution in the U.S. Wells Fargo has deployed more than 1,000 Wincor Nixdorf bulk check deposit ATMs.

Wincor Nixdorf is the world's only provider of bulk check deposit ATMS and the preferred supplier of IT products and services to 18 of the world's 25 leading banks, including all of the 25 top banks in Europe. The company currently has contracts or pilots with nine of the top 20 American financial institutions, and more than 1,000 Wincor Nixdorf bulk deposit ATMs deployed in American markets.

"Since the introduction of Check 21 legislation, banks have invested considerable resources getting their back-end processes in place, and they're now taking advantage of Check 21 on the front end, including new ways the technology can provide a superior banking experience for their customers," said Alan Walsh, vice president of banking for Wincor Nixdorf USA. "This milestone clearly exemplifies that trend and suggests that bulk deposit ATMs will remain the preferred ATM technology of the future," he added.

Wincor Nixdorf is very successful on the international scene with self-service systems featuring an intelligent deposit module. The CCDM is significant for countries that do not operate a highly developed giro system, especially the US but also notably France and the UK. In the US and UK, for example, banks are mainly automating the check handling process. In Germany, the module is used in deposit-only systems at financial institutions.

Intelligent deposit systems automate the entire cash handling process and shorten the cash cycle from the very beginning. Cash and checks are validated using the latest, precise image processing technology. The entire posting process is automated. There is no need to process cash or checks manually anymore. Unsorted bundles of up to 50 banknotes or, alternatively, 50 checks can be deposited at systems featuring a CCDM. Wincor Nixdorf is the only vendor to support deposits of checks in bundles in a module.

This considerably reduces financial insitutions' costs for cash logistics without adversely affecting availability. Interest paid and the cost of replenishment and deplenishment are reduced, while the cash supply is made more secure. The cash/check deposit module also puts an end to the presentation of checks at the counter.

Leading industry analyst firm Tower Group reports that every deposit transaction made with an envelope at an ATM costs the bank $1.70, as compared to a teller transaction, which costs the bank $1.40. By eliminating the envelope and allowing bulk deposits with imaging technology, Wincor Nixdorf's ATM reduces the bank's cost per transaction to just 40 cents.
