Oblix, the leading provider of identity-based security solutions, today announced that Old Mutual, one of South Africa's leading financial services firms, has implemented Oblix COREid® for Identity Management and Web Access Control for user authentication and authorization.

Old Mutual uses COREid to provide Web single sign-on (SSO) and user self-service to customers accessing the company's Web-based applications, including online portfolio viewing, investment research, and other financial services.

Old Mutual selected Oblix to securely manage corporate relationships with thousands of intermediaries and customers who access Old Mutual's diverse range of financial products and services via the Web. Old Mutual intermediaries also use Oblix to securely access Web-based business-to-business applications, such as an application to view specific items of customer policy information. In addition, COREid enables Old Mutual to streamline the roll-out of new Web applications, making the overall process more cost-effective, faster, and easier.

Using Oblix COREid to manage a centralized directory of user privileges, Old Mutual now has a single point of user administration and a single view of customers and intermediaries. Oblix COREid's automated workflow capabilities make it fast and easy to make changes to user identity information as new self-service applications and users come online or, more importantly, are removed from the system. No longer needing to enter such information manually, Old Mutual has increased security and lowered administrative costs. Oblix also provides Old Mutual with auditing and reporting capabilities that increase corporate visibility and governance.

"Identity management plays a key role in Old Mutual's ability to securely draw our community of customers and other constituents together via self-service channels," said Richard Laycock, Old Mutual self-service manager. "Not only has Oblix enabled us to improve end-users' experience by enabling easier access to more information and applications, but it has allowed us to realize operational cost savings and reduce the business risks associated with doing business via the Web."

"Financial services firms must manage a multitude of user relationships and complex IT environments while maintaining the highest levels of security and governance," said Ken Sims, vice president of marketing and business development, Oblix. "With its proven identity administration engine, Oblix COREid helps Old Mutual increase control and visibility across the organization at the same time its user base and portfolio of critical applications is expanding across multiple business units."
