Washington Trust is the largest independent bank headquartered in Rhode Island, with 16 branch offices located in Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. NYCE Payments Network, LLC, is a leading U.S. debit card payments network and a division of Metavante Corporation, the banking and payments technology subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (NYSE: MI).
"We're pleased to renew our agreement with NYCE and continue routing transactions solely through them," said David J. Jardin, Washington Trust vice president of operations, payments and system support. "NYCE is focused on driving the success of our payments program and helping us serve cardholder needs, which is critical to our success."
Steve Rathgaber, NYCE president and chief operating officer agreed, citing the two organizations' shared beliefs and investment in the same ideals as reasons why the renewal represented a natural pairing.
"Serving as a pillar of economic strength and stability for the local economy, Washington Trust has experienced the kind of longevity and success made possible only through extraordinary customer service and identifying with the communities it serves," he said. "Because NYCE responds to the economic and business needs of its network participants, we've earned the loyalty inherent in these types of renewals and sole provider agreements."
