Zions Bancorporation (NASDAQ:ZION) ("Zions") today announced that it is consolidating the operations and the technology platform of its London-based affiliate -- Zions Bank International Ltd. -- with its U.S. operation, allowing Zions to extend its electronic bond trading to 15 hours a day.

"With this consolidation, Zions Bank International Ltd will become a support office during London hours for Zions' electronic bond trading platform," said David Hemingway, executive vice president and senior investment officer. "Customers will be able to reach experienced traders 15 hours a day."

Zions Bank International Ltd operates the odd lot bond business acquired from Van der Moolen in April of this year. During the last two weeks, all active European accounts have been established on Zions' U.S. platform and are now able to trade electronically.

With the conversion of the European accounts to Zions' highly regarded electronic trading platform, Zions will no longer make markets for Euro Government Securities in London, said Hemingway.

In a separate action, Zions announced that its electronic bond trading platform will be available worldwide through Reuters beginning in the fourth quarter of this year. Reuters provides financials services and products to 427,000 financial market professionals working in the equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, money, commodities and energy markets around the world.

"Reuters is proud to be broadening its Fixed Income transaction partnership program to include Zions Bank. Together, we will be able to accelerate and improve trading efficiency for Zions' global customers across 1,700 U.S. dollar denominated securities," said Mark Robson, global head of Treasury and Fixed Income. "At the same time, Reuter customers will benefit from the ability to be able to view this executable grade price feed."

"With the upcoming release of trading on Reuters, our London office will allow us to better serve our customers in Europe and Asia during local hours," said Hemingway.
