BECU renews Open Solutions agreement

BECU (formerly Boeing Employees Credit Union), the largest credit union in Washington State and one of the top five financial cooperatives in the United States, recently renewed its contract with Open Solutions's for an additional five years.

The credit union has relied on Open Solutions' The Complete Credit Union Solution, a relational data processing platform, to handle its retail transactions, consumer loan servicing and integration strategy since 2002.

BECU's VP&CIO Butch Leonardson, attributes the credit union's member experience approach to technology as an enabler to its success and growth. Since completing the largest technology conversion in credit union history in a single weekend in November 2002, BECU has doubled its asset size to $7.3 billion, expanded to more than 40 branches and has grown its membership to more than 500,000 in the past five years.

As part of its ongoing evaluation of its technology platform BECU recently completed a competitive evaluation of new and existing vendors to ensure the credit union's current and future needs were most effectively being met.

"After an assessment of alternatives, we determined that Open Solutions continues to offer a solution that is capable of addressing our growth and long-standing goals," said Mr. Leonardson. "The openness of their technology, integration capabilities and future plans for the product continues to supports our long-term IT strategy."

The Complete Credit Union Solution is built on a powerful, centralized Oracle relational database designed to be an open architecture application, creating the flexibility necessary for running a service-oriented financial institution. It helps credit unions streamline both front and back office processes and creates a centralized view of members, employees and business partners. Open Solutions provides credit unions with a fully featured strategic product platform, integrating relationship-based core data processing with strategic applications such as Internet banking, business intelligence, financial accounting applications, electronic imaging, payment and interactive voice response solutions.
