Two types of game are available: an exclusively knowledge-based game aimed at familiarizing participants with financial issues (trading in exchange-traded funds, questions on the taxation of stock market gains, portfolio theory, etc.) on a weekly basis and then testing their knowledge at the end of the game, and a fund stock exchange game that simulates trading in fund units. In the fund stock market game, participants are given a four-month period leading up to the end of January 2008 to increase a hypothetical set credit amount of €20,000 and can learn as much as possible about fund stock exchange trading during this period. Participants can trade in all of the funds listed on the Xetra trading system and the Frankfurt trading floor, i.e. around 3,200 in total. As in real-life stock exchange trading, participants have access to various different order types and validities; the hours during which the game can be played also corresponding to real trading hours.
The winners of both the fund stock exchange game and the knowledge test can look forward to securities account shares of €10,000 (1st place) and €5,000 (2nd place). The third prize is a trip to Frankfurt for two with a whole range of activities included.
