Savvis (NASDAQ:SVVS), a global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, today announced the availability of Savvis Proximity Hosting, providing direct connectivity and low latency network access to five major exchanges and Electronic Communications Networks (ECNs) hosted in a Savvis data center near New York City.
SAVVIS Proximity Hosting provides hedge funds and the automated trading community with a low latency environment for market data and trade execution by securely hosting their application servers in an exclusive area of a SAVVIS' data center that is in close proximity to the source servers of major exchanges and ECNs. The Proximity Hosting environment is also fully integrated with SAVVIS' global IT infrastructure featuring high performance managed network, servers, storage, and security. In addition, SAVVIS' data centers undergo a SAS 70 Type II Audit annually that assists customers in addressing Sarbanes Oxley and other reporting requirements.
The exchanges and ECNs located in SAVVIS' Proximity Hosting environment include the American Stock Exchange (Amex), the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX), and BATS Trading, Inc. In addition, SAVVIS Proximity Hosting provides connectivity to SFTI Access Points for NYSE and OPRA market data.
When combined with SAVVIS Exchange Express (announced separately August 20), companies can directly source participating exchanges for market data and trade execution as part of a low latency, high performance financial infrastructure service. SAVVIS also offers access to hundreds of exchange feeds around the world including major exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), NASDAQ and the London Stock Exchange.
"Hosting our PHLX IRON Network and newly established PHLX XLE trading system in the SAVVIS Proximity Hosting environment uniquely positions PHLX as one of the fastest and most reliable Reg NMS-compliant electronic trading venues," said Frank Ziegler, Vice President of Communications for PHLX. "We took into account speed, resiliency and quality of execution across the board and partnered with SAVVIS to establish a common IT infrastructure that provides universal access, high availability and low latency connectivity to all PHLX electronic marketplaces."
SAVVIS Proximity Hosting was engineered specifically to enhance and expand low latency connectivity solutions in the financial markets industry. The solution leverages SAVVIS' network and data center infrastructure to provide a secure, high availability hosting environment for exchanges and ECNs and a low latency connectivity service for traders, particularly those with advanced algorithmic and automated trading systems.
"SAVVIS Proximity Hosting expands and enhances our portfolio of low latency connectivity options for the financial markets," said Varghese Thomas, Vice President and General Manager of Financial Markets for SAVVIS. "SAVVIS Proximity Hosting is a significant step in our global expansion plan to offer high availability application hosting and low latency network access for the world's leading trading venues and liquidity pools."
SAVVIS plans to expand the Proximity Hosting model to major exchanges in Chicago, London, and Tokyo over the next 6 to 12 months.
