DataSynapse, the global provider of application virtualisation software, today announced an alliance with Capgemini, one of the world's foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services.

The Capgemini Outsourcing UK Division is adopting DataSynapse's GridServer and FabricServer application virtualisation technologies to develop offerings that can meet the changing needs of its customers and to drive innovation in the burgeoning virtualisation market.

Outsourcing firms are often the first to adopt new technologies in order to consistently deliver innovative, cutting-edge services to their clients. Capgemini's Outsourcing Services operation have offered virtualisation services for some time, including server, storage and network solutions and recognized the benefits of incorporating application virtualisation to complete a robust and extensive portfolio of virtualisation services for their clients.

Teaming with DataSynapse, Capgemini outsourcing customers will be able to reap extensive and rapid benefits across application and infrastructure environments, including improved resiliency, application performance, reduce costs whilst moving to guarantee application SLAs and improve time to market.

In a report released July 11, IDC found that the market for virtualisation services will grow from $5.5 billion in 2006 to $11.7 billion in 2011, as businesses turn to the technology to address a range of issues in the data centre from power consumption to consolidation to cooling costs. In embracing this latest virtualisation technology Capgemini Outsourcing Services aims to help organisations evolve their green technology efforts by enabling clients to dynamically allocate, manage and control resources - shutting down resources that aren't needed and using less hardware to meet SLA performance targets, thus saving and reducing energy use and expenditure.

"The addition of DataSynapse's application virtualisation technology allows us to extend and complete our virtualisation offerings and round out our overall solution stack," said Karl Deacon, CTO, Capgemini Outsourcing UK. "As one of the few companies leading in the area of application virtppvpppvirtpplication virtualisation, coupled with a comfortable match of collaborative culture and approach, DataSynapse was the clear choice to help accelerate our business by offering new, innovative ways to support our clients business challenges."

A number of Capgemini's Outsourcing customers are in the process of evaluating the potential benefits in the UK and beyond. DataSynapse and Capgemini aim to extend the impressive benefits of this latest virtualisation solution to a range of joint customers, spanning the globe in the coming year.

"By incorporating DataSynapse's application virtualisation technologies with Capgemini's skills in delivering exceptional innovation and architectural thought leadership, Capgemini is delivering unprecedented value to its customers," said Alun Baker, senior vice president and managing director for EMEA at DataSynapse. "The alliance helps our joint customers better align IT resources with business objectives. GridServer and FabricServer help to satisfy user demand to better respond to business challenges, improving service quality, reducing operating expenses and creating new revenue streams."

Application virtualisation technologies are leveraged by the world's leading organisations to create real-time infrastructure that optimises IT resources so that service levels remain predictable and consistent, despite unpredictable computing demands. DataSynapse's GridServer and FabricServer software intelligently match available server supply with application demand, allowing organisations to gain control of complex enterprise applications. Users experience improved agility, reduced costs and enhanced quality of service - quickly and efficiently.
