Deutsche Börse names Rüdiger Assion head of corporate communications

Rüdiger Assion (40) is to be the new Head of Corporate Communications at Deutsche Börse Group based in Frankfurt/Main.

The company announced that Assion will assume his new position on 1 September 2007, and will be responsible for PR, internal communication, Marketing Communication and Events. In this role, Assion will report to the CEO of Deutsche Börse AG.

Rüdiger Assion is currently employed as Director Corporate Communications for automotive group General Motors and manages international corporate communication in Europe from Zurich. Prior to this, he was responsible for corporate communications at Adam Opel AG until 2004, and head of PR for a subsidiary of the Volkswagen group from 1997 to 2001. From 1993 he was spokesman for business and products for the British Rover Group within the BMW Group. Assion began his career as a journalist at the Heinrich Bauer publishing house in Hamburg.

Rüdiger Assion will be supported by Walter Allwicher (40), who most recently coordinated corporate communications at Deutsche Börse AG. In the future Allwicher will continue to be spokesman for Deutsche Börse.

As of October 1, the experienced economic journalist Stefan Keidel (43) will join Deutsche Börse's communications team. As a Senior Expert, Keidel will also report to Assion. Stefan Keidel currently works as a correspondent in the Munich office of DIE WELT daily newspaper. His previous employers include the newspapers Börsen-Zeitung and Handelsblatt in London and Frankfurt, where he reported on financial and capital markets, banks and exchanges.
