Tibco Software (NASDAQ: TIBX) today announced that Fiditalia, one of Italy's largest credit companies, has chosen Tibco ActiveMatrix to accelerate its move to an event-driven service-oriented architecture (SOA).
Fiditalia is the first European customer to leverage TIBCO's service virtualisation platform as a common foundation for addressing challenges in the deployment, management and governance of services as composite applications.
TIBCO ActiveMatrix will become an integral part for creating and managing Fiditalia's new services, as well as extending the use of existing services. The initial deployment will begin with TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Manager, to help enforce bank policies and ensure services are only accessed by authorised users.
As Fiditalia begins to assemble new Java and .NET services, it will provision these applications and existing ones, on the TIBCO ActiveMatrix Service Grid. This will provide for further elements of functionality to be exposed and reused as services.
Fabrizio Martelli, head of architecture at Fiditalia, said: "What attracted us to TIBCO was its incremental approach to implementation. We developed a proof of concept with TIBCO, which very quickly demonstrated benefits to the business. The next logical step for Fiditalia is to implement ActiveMatrix to reduce architectural complexity, increase operational control and improve developer productivity."
Today's announcement builds on an 18-month partnership between TIBCO and the Italian company. TIBCO's BusinessWorks integration platform was previously deployed as the backbone on which Fiditalia developed a range of business services, such as its SMS credit card transaction alert service and fraud detection application, designed to improve offerings to its customer base.
Benefits of the TIBCO software implementation to date include a dramatic reduction in time-to-market, as a result of simplified integration and a decline in the amount of code being written.
Fabio Pulidori, senior vice president, EMEA, at TIBCO, said: "We are delighted to see Fiditalia taking its TIBCO implementation to the next level. Its use of SOA demonstrates the importance of increased collaboration between business and IT to help cut through the spaghetti code of an enterprise infrastructure. Companies like Fiditalia recognise the tangible benefits of a services-based environment and are leading the way to SOA."
