SunGard today announced that Export and Industry Bank (Exportbank), one of the fastest growing commercial banks in the Philippines, has selected SunGard's BancWare asset and liability management solution to help it automate processes, streamline and control large data volumes, and provide timely analysis.

Exportbank selected SunGard's BancWare in September 2006 for its risk management, treasury, and accounting and planning information requirements. BancWare will help Exportbank to strengthen its risk and performance management processes and share analytics, decision support and performance measurement within the bank.

The first phase implementation of SunGard's BancWare Focus ALM will help Exportbank to measure and manage interest rate, foreign exchange and liquidity risk. BancWare Focus ALM will help Exportbank's risk management team to understand the impact of market changes on the balance sheet and make more informed decisions to help improve its risk/return profile. BancWare Focus ALM will assist Exportbank to efficiently model customer behavior and market movements to help stabilize margin and earnings, forecast future earnings, manage profitability and comply with regulatory requirements.

SunGard's BancWare data integration approach will help Exportbank to collect internal data from the bank's existing systems and transform and standardize the data for processing. BancWare Funds Transfer Pricing will also help Exportbank conduct margin analysis and gain a comprehensive view of the bank's risk positions.

"SunGard is helping our IT department to streamline and control large volumes of data while seamlessly disseminating financial data across our organization. Exportbank is now able to spend less time worrying about data and more time focusing on our business objectives," said Douglas Chew, executive vice president, Exportbank.

"The implementation of SunGard's BancWare Focus ALM is the first step towards Exportbank's compliance project for the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas regulatory requirements. On the back of this successful project, we will now focus on implementing SunGard's solutions for IFRS/IAS39 and Basel II compliance," added Mr. Chew.

Ian Mullane, chief operating officer of SunGard's financial systems business in Asia-Pacific, said, "We are pleased to be entering into this relationship with Exportbank. We believe that SunGard's strength and industry expertise will help Exportbank strengthen its risk and performance management processes. BancWare helps create integrated, enterprise-wide risk management practices that help to increase efficiency, improve decision-making, and reinforce the stability of regional institutions, all of which are of particular importance to our customers in the Philippines."
