Gissing Software, solution specialists in the routing and transformation of real-time market and trade data, today announced the launch of its next generation multi-vendor contribution system, Gissing ConteX MCS 4.0.

The software has been re-engineered to offer massive improvements in performance, as well as extensive new functionality, dynamic system configuration and better operational monitoring and reporting capabilities. Gissing ConteX MCS 4.0 has also been designed with the transaction transparency requirements of MiFID in mind, and Gissing Software has developed a set of MiFID output handlers which will allow users to contribute both pre and post-trade data to their choice of venues.

Gissing will be unveiling the new solution at the SIFMA Technology Management Conference and Exhibit which takes place in New York from 19-21 June. Four major banks have already offered to join the beta test program for Gissing ConteX 4.0, with the first clients expected to adopt the new solution and go live during Q4 2007.

Key highlights of Gissing ConteX MCS 4.0 include:
  • Improved performance - A new internal data architecture and improved interprocess communication speed up the data transformation process and increase processing efficiencies. This means lower latency, increased throughput and better hardware utilisation.
  • Field validation - extensive data validation options allow users to stipulate how each field should look and to run checks on the data. Alerts and warnings can be invoked if the data exceeds certain limits or fails to refresh within set parameters - ensuring maximum data integrity and reliability. To ensure this new functionality is as accessible as possible Gissing has developed its own fully-functional expression language for Gissing ConteX: eXpresso.
  • Derived data handling - users can manipulate input data, conducting complex calculations, comparisons and other analyses and can publish the derived data to the destination of their choice. This includes the ability to perform both arithmetic and string manipulations on field contents using Gissing's new expression language: eXpresso. eXpresso has over 35 built-in functions specifically developed to provide high-performance calculations and string manipulations without delaying contributions.
  • Dynamic configuration - Today's agile businesses need to be able to respond quickly to market changes. While Gissing ConteX MCS R3 allowed easy system configuration without programming via a set of graphical tools, Gissing ConteX MCS 4.0 goes further by allowing changes to be made dynamically without business interruption. Users are better able to respond to fast-moving business drivers than ever before.
  • Operational monitoring and reporting - administrators can access and monitor the system remotely from any desktop or even mobile device. Users have access to a wide variety of key performance indicators such as latency, data throughput, data rates and CPU loading.

Commenting on the launch, Mike Vieyra, CEO, Gissing Software, said: "The reliability and high performance of our existing Gissing ConteX MCS software, which is used to meet the contribution needs of major financial institutions at more than 50 sites around the globe, is already proven. But we were determined to continue to push the boundaries. As the market leader in this space we have invested in delivering a solution that offers a substantial increase in performance allowing our clients to respond to market drivers such as the need for ever lower latency to support algorithmic trading. The new solution offers an impressive range of new features designed to meet changing client needs, including ease of compliance with the transparency requirements of MiFID."
