SimCorp Asia has appointed David Stieger as chief pre-sales consultant reporting to director of sales and marketing Nick Quin.

Based in Sydney, he is part of a growing business development team that is responsible for the interpretation of functional and technical specifications, the resolution of requests for proposal, and requirements mapping throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Mr Stieger has over 20 years experience in the financial industry. His intrinsic knowledge of the funds management industry stems from the 12 years he spent at Newton Investments in London where he was a global equity and EAFE (Europe, Australia and the Far East) portfolio manager with responsibility for over A$1 billion in assets. He joins SimCorp Asia from SimCorp's UK operation where for three-and-a-half years he was head of pre-sales and market support with particular responsibility for front-office trading and portfolio management functions.

While at Newton he developed a number of innovative investment products and devised and implemented systems and procedures to manage the growth of portfolios under management. He also developed and published in-house software for dividend models, performance and attribution measurement, cash and hedging systems and an integrated program trading fund management and dealing system.

"The combination of David's business experience and knowledge of our system in both portfolio management and trading areas is significant," says Mr Quin.

"With the recent release of Order Management3, the new front-office trading module of our SimCorp Dimension investment management system, and the impending release of its re-designed portfolio management and analytics environment, his expertise will prove invaluable in developing prospective business."
