Metavante Corporation, the financial technology subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (NYSE:MI), today announced that AmeriServ Financial Bank has renewed its core processing software agreement with Metavante Banking Solutions-Bankway.

Based in Johnstown, Penn. AmeriServ Financial is the banking subsidiary of AmeriServ Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASRV).

AmeriServ deploys Bankway, an in-house core banking solution, at its more than 21 banking offices throughout western and central Pennsylvania. A long-term client of the Bankway software suite of products and services, this new contract marks a 30-year relationship between AmeriServ and Bankway. In addition to renewing its Bankway agreement, AmeriServ signed an agreement for Metavante's electronic funds transfer and card services, and will begin participating in the NYCE Network, a leading debit card payments network and a division of Metavante. NYCE will be the sole provider of retail PIN debit access for AmeriServ's 23,000 cards.

"Our long history together is evidence to the quality of Metavante's Bankway technology and the level of customer service they deliver. Bankway's comprehensive offerings give us the tools we need to deliver better customer service and an expanded product line," said Leo J. Fronczek, senior vice president and chief information officer at AmeriServ. "Our goal is to be the best bank in our marketplace, and Metavante will help us get there."

Bankway software is a comprehensive core banking package that employs a single-system, customer-centric architecture. It offers financial institutions an expanded core processing solution with the advantage of strategically organized customer information, educational resources, and intuitive customer service tools. Bankway software is available as an in-house solution running on multiple hardware platforms, or in a hosted environment.

"AmeriServ's continued commitment to our banking services attests to their confidence and belief in our technology to assist them into the future," said Rachel Landrum, president, Metavante Banking Solutions-Bankway. "The combination of Metavante's first-class suite of products and dedication to our clients allow us to have long-term relationships with customer-centered banks such as AmeriServ. We are honored to have the opportunity to continue working with them."
