Thunderhead, the leading provider of enterprise communications technology, today announced that the general insurance business of financial services firm Liverpool Victoria recently launched as LV= has selected the Thunderhead platform to generate all customer documentation in the UK.

LV= is Britain's largest friendly society providing a broad range of financial services, including savings, investments, life insurance, home and motor insurance to its 2.5 million members and customers throughout the United Kingdom. The company, which recently announced its aim to become a top five general insurer in the country, is investing substantially to grow the business across a broader range of distribution channels, offering products aimed at both personal customers and SMEs.

LV= has already started building an entirely new business operations platform to automate its general insurance business. Thunderhead was selected by Liverpool Victoria for its ability to rapidly deliver its multi-channel customer documentation, whilst ideally complementing its insurance platform. The decision was further reinforced by Thunderhead's ease of use, making the platform both easy to learn and quick to implement.

"Thunderhead was chosen as it offered LV= a combination of flexible and dynamic document composition backed by a company that was equally flexible and dynamic in supporting a rapid implementation project. A cost effective package of license and delivery support sealed the deal," commented Mitch Lambton, IT Director at LV= General Insurance.

"Thunderhead's ability to output correspondence to any delivery channel will enable LV= to move to a multi-channel document generation strategy without the need for additional technologies. Implementing Thunderhead as part of the core platform at LV= is another major endorsement for the Thunderhead solution, clearly demonstrating that it can successfully assist companies to reduce time-to-market for new products and also improve customer communications," said Glen Manchester, CEO of Thunderhead.

Unlike document generation systems which use proprietary messaging formats, Thunderhead is designed to enable business users to control the development and maintenance of customer communications and is based on open standards architecture. The resulting benefits include reduced costs by simplifying the document creation and maintenance process, ease of integration and support, higher quality communications, enhanced customer service, faster response times to regulatory requirements and reduced time-to-delivery for new products.
