PayPal, the global online payment service, today expanded its PayPal Web Services offering by introducing a new software development kit (SDK) for the Microsoft platform. The PayPal SDK for Microsoft ASP.NET enables the more than 2.5 million Microsoft .NET developers worldwide to build secure and cost-effective e-commerce applications that easily integrate with the PayPal platform.
Available today as a free download to members of the PayPal Developer Network, the PayPal SDK for Microsoft ASP.NET is compatible with all languages and tools that run on the Microsoft .NET Framework. It includes controls, scripts and sample applications that help developers fully integrate PayPal Website Payments, PayPal's Instant Payment Notification (IPN) service, and Payment Data Transfer (PDT). The new SDK provides developers with access to seven PayPal Web controls: Buy Now, Add to Cart, View Cart, Checkout, Upload Aggregate Cart, Upload Complete Cart and Subscription.
With the addition of the PayPal SDK for ASP.NET, PayPal has extended the Microsoft ASP.NET Commerce Starter Kit, a sample ASP.NET application that provides code to accomplish common Web development tasks.
"We launched PayPal Web Services earlier this year to help make the development of e-commerce easier for a wide range of individuals, developers and businesses to instantly offer innovative and secure payment applications," said Dave McClure, director of PayPal's Developer Network. "With our new SDK, we're extending this advantage to millions of Microsoft developers, making it easier for them to integrate PayPal Website Payments into their e-commerce sites."
"Working with PayPal, we're able to bring together two powerful forces: millions of developers in the .NET Framework community and an e-commerce platform that enables access to more than 45 million PayPal member accounts around the world," said Brian Goldfarb, product manager of Web platforms and tools for Microsoft. "The PayPal SDK for ASP.NET simplifies an important step in the process of building a business on the Web, and further enhances the Commerce Starter Kit by providing payment processing, which is a crucial part of any online business."
