VeriFone Holdings, (Nyse:PAY) today announced two new members of the MX Solutions payment platform, the MX830 and MX850.

The two new systems are PCI PED-approved and join with the award-winning MX870 to provide multi-lane retailers with the broadest range of secure consumer-facing payment systems featuring the highest visual clarity in a durable, reliable and stylish form factor.

The MX830 brings core-payment level functionality to new heights of usability and security in multi-lane environments. The MX850 expands on this with vivid color graphics, optional signature capture and IP protocol based connectivity options. Both solutions share the same platform architecture, software and peripherals of the MX870 multimedia system to provide the most effective mix-and-match combination of payment devices that efficiently suit virtually any multi-lane retail environment. The MX870 is the only large screen PCI PED compliant payment system and has won the vast majority of national contracts for multi-lane payment systems over the past year.

The MX800 Series leverages sophisticated technology and security features, and offers retailers a broad range of functions from basic debit and credit payment acceptance to advanced capabilities such as electronic signature capture, multimedia branding, contactless payment and smart card acceptance.

"The new MX Solutions provide customers and partners with flexibility to mix and match units to meet specific store needs and budget requirements," said Paul Rasori, VeriFone vice president of Global Product Marketing. "The MX800 Series represents the fastest, most secure, durable, reliable and easy-to-use payment devices available today for demanding multi-lane retail and other point-of-service environments such as retail banking, ticketing or kiosks."

The MX800 Series provides unmatched graphics clarity with the industry's highest resolution of 320x240 pixels on 1/4-VGA resolution backlit screens, available on the MX850 in 65,356-color and on the MX830 in 16-shade gray scale. Ethernet connectivity is standard with the MX850 and available as an option on the MX830. Both can be configured with contactless payment modules, from the factory or in the field.

The MX830 is a performance-oriented, durable and economical consumer-activated payment device with core features and optional touchscreen and signature capture. The MX850 provides a mid-range solution for customers who need a multi-lane payment powerhouse with color graphics, greater memory, and a standard capacitive glass touchscreen with optional signature capture. Both systems are software upgradeable with USB memory sticks and feature a recessed 13-key, laser-etched tactile key pad for secure, private PIN entry.

The MX830 and MX850 are global payment products designed to meet PCI PED, EMV Level 1 and 2 approvals, and Interac certification. Both meet RoHS and WEEE requirements. The systems will be available for certification testing this month, with general availability scheduled for March.
