Therefore, Handelsbanken is launching a unique form of payment solution, whereby such agreements can be signed electronically. Over 3.5 million bank customers - including those of banks other than Handelsbanken - will be able to use the new service.

Handelsbanken Finans is the first player to launch a signature using BankID linked to Netpay. Netpay is a unique payment solution for online commerce, developed specially for companies which offer shopping over the internet.

The new service allows processing to be further simplified, as credit agreements can also be signed online. Both the webshop and the private individual who wishes to finance his/her online purchase are now spared all the paperwork.

BankID is a joint service used by Swedish banks for electronic identification and signatures online. Together, the participating banks have over 3.5 million e-customers who can utilise BankID.

"This solution enables us to strengthen our position as the leading provider of financial sales support services to companies offering online shopping. Naturally, it is particularly gratifying to be the first in Sweden to offer this convenient payment service, for participating merchants as well as their customers," says Robert Wahlström, head of e-commerce at Handelsbanken Finans.
